Arrests made in burglary
On Monday, January 10th, 2022, the Parrish Police Department was dispatched to a reported Burglary at the Parrish Mini Storage located at 515 New Parrish Highway. Approximately 10 storage buildings were broken into. Through video surveillance and other resources, the Police Department was able to identify 4 different vehicles and 5 suspects that were involved. The Parrish Department has worked nearly around the clock the last few days to locate the victims’ property and find the persons responsible for these crimes.
On Thursday, January 12th, 2022, the Walker County Sheriff’s Department was able to locate one of the vehicles and some of the stolen property that was involved in the thefts at the Warrior River Motel located at 8440 Hwy 78 Jasper. The Parrish Police Department responded to the Warrior River Motel and started collecting evidence. While collecting evidence at the motel another suspect drove up in another vehicle that was seen on surveillance video. The driver of the car was taken into custody and was found to have methamphetamine, marijuana, and scales inside the vehicle.
On Sunday, January 16, 2022, the Parrish Police Department and Cordova Police Department executed a search warrant at 3893 River Road in Cordova. Several stolen items were recovered, and another suspect was taken into custody.
The investigation led the Parrish Police Department and Cordova Police Department back to the Warrior River Motel where another suspect was taken into custody.
The following individuals are in custody and will be transferred to the Walker County Jail:
- W/M Melton Ray Harding 58 of Jasper-Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and Burglary 3.
- W/M William Kyle Johnson 26 of Jasper- Burglary 3
- W/F Amanda Rainey 46 of Cordova- Burglary 3
The Parrish Police Department is actively looking for W/M Samuel James Burnett 43, of Cordova in connection with the Burglaries. James Burnett could be in the area of Winston or Marion Counties. This is an active investigation, and more arrests are possible.
